Abstract

After the reform of CET-4 listening test, news listening has become another obstacle for students to improve their listening level. Aiming at the generally weak English listening level of non-English majors in independent colleges, this paper analyzes the difficulties in the news listening part of the CET-4 reform based on the characteristics of English news, and puts forward corresponding teaching strategies to develop students’ proficiency in English news listening.
