Under China’s “Double Reduction” policy, although the educational pressure has somewhat reduced, the mechanism of talent selection through examinations still exists, which means competition remains, leading to the internalization of education. This article analyzes the challenges faced by the “Double Reduction” policy from historical and current perspectives. The reasons for the internalization of education are examined and four recommendations for the further implementation of the “Double Reduction” policy are presented.
