The second volume of Hunan Education Press’s required new geography textbook for senior high school contains a big number of photos, a high density, a wide range of image kinds, and a considerable improvement in image quality, according to a longitudinal comparison. We should pay greater attention to the educational usefulness of geographic pictures in the classroom, employ geographic images to make learning easier, and select standard geographic images for teaching.
