The Impact of Green Trade Barriers on China’s Agricultural Exports: Evidence from 10 ASEAN Countries
This study uses panel data from 2005 to 2022, introduces relevant indicators of green trade barriers, and employs a stochastic frontier gravity model to examine the impact of green trade barriers on China’s agricultural exports to ASEAN countries. At the same time, a trade inefficiency model is established to measure the trade efficiency and trade potential of China’s agricultural exports. The results show that: (1) Green trade barriers inhibit China’s agricultural exports. (2) Trade efficiency is obviously differentiated. Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand are among the top three countries with trade potential. Generally speaking, China needs to release its trade potential by deepening the mutual recognition of RCEP green standards, building an enterprise certification support system, and upgrading the cross-border logistics infrastructure.
