Analysis of Clinical Efficacy and Safety of Second-generation Antipsychotic Drugs in the Treatment of Schizophrenia Patients
Purpose: This study focuses on patients with schizophrenia and analyzes the application effects of different second-generation antipsychotic drugs. Methods: 60 patients with schizophrenia were randomly selected as observation subjects, all included from June 2024 to June 2025. They were divided into two groups according to different medications: the risperidone group and the olanzapine group, with 30 cases in each group. The treatment effect and safety were determined by comparing symptom improvement. Results: After treatment, the PANSS scores of the two groups of patients were significantly lower than before treatment, and the decrease in the olanzapine group was better than that in the risperidone group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of total adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). The olanzapine group had a higher incidence of weight gain, dizziness and drowsiness, and the risperidone group had a significantly higher incidence of extrapyramidal reactions and elevated prolactin. Conclusion: Both risperidone and olanzapine can achieve definite curative effects in patients with schizophrenia, and both can effectively improve patients’ mental symptoms. Compared with risperidone, olanzapine has more advantages in reducing extrapyramidal reactions and increasing prolactin. Clinical medication can be selected according to the individual conditions of the patient.
